Description

Triethanolamine is a tertiary amino compound that is ammonia in which each of the hydrogens is substituted by a 2-hydroxyethyl group.

It balances pH to prevent skin irritation, acts as a surfactant, stabilizes emulsions like creams and lotions, and it stabilizes emulsion by ensuring effective mixing of oil and water substances

It also acts as an emulsifier when combined with stearic acid

Uses:

  • pH adjuster (increases pH)
  • Stabilizes emulsions, fragrances and preservatives
  • Acts as foam stabilizer as it has detergent properties and stabilizes other surfactants
  • Improves efficacy of preservatives by stabilizing the pH value

Usage rate: below 2%
Appearance: Clear to slightly yellow colorless liquid
