Sodium lactate
Description
Sodium lactate is the sodium salt of lactic acid, and has a mild saline taste. It is produced by fermentation of a sugar source, such as maize or beets, and then, by neutralizing the resulting lactic acid to create a compound having the formula NaC₃H₅O₃
It can be used to adjust the pH value of formulations
It can be added to bar soap formulations to harden bar and prevent bar-cracking
It is a natural moisturizing factor of the skin, hence, it increases moisture retention, and helps to maintain skin hydration
Usage: 0.1-5% can be used at higher level
